My mother first showed me how to make this rug when I was eight years old. Over the years I made lots of rugs, because they are fun to make. After making our rugs, different people would ask me to show them how to make my rug. I thought because I knew how to make the rugs everyone else knew how to make the rugs too. To my surprise I found no one knew how to make the rugs. At that time I was praying Psalm 37:4 asking God to give me my own business. March 7, 1986 I began Aunt Philly's Toothbrush Rugs I used an old toothbrush by cutting the bristles off and filing it into a point. When the toothbrush companies stopped putting the hole in the handle(1986) I began making the needle out of plastic in which I had a mold made. So I named my business after the tool that I made.
